Christmas song, 2019: Santa I hope you come to (my) town…

We’ve been delighted with the feedback and support of my new Christmas song ‘Santa I hope you come to (my) town’, it’s nearing 10K views on my Facebook page!

It was a quick turnaround, writing and recording it in 24 hours with our good friend Garry Boyle at Slate Room Studio in Pencaitland.

Originally, I was set to record a cover of one of my favourite festive tunes… but then came the election.

I was already simmering over the heart-breaking Dispatches piece, ‘Growing Up Poor’ and felt moved to reflect on recent events and how best to move forwards in a supportive and kind way.

My advice, if you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, is to reach out locally. Get involved in your community in which ever way you can – every little bit helps.

Inertia and apathy will only lead to things remaining as they are, stagnant and ineffective, and worsen over time.

Act now, speak up, lend a hand and help to collectively drive change from within your communities and beyond.
